I hate moving...

I hate moving. But its all done. I"m officially in the new apartment. The cats are wreaking havoc, and I keep tripping over boxes and I have been awake pretty much since yesterday morning at 6. I'm sleepy, I'm stressed and I'm mad at my messy house.
We took Marie to the airport this morning... I miss her already... It took everything in me to keep from crying when we left the airport. Four months is nothing right? Right... I thought so.
I checked my marks. Not good, not good at all... so that's really not helping my stress at all. Not at all. I started work yesterday. I can't say I love it.. but its okay enough. I work again tomorrow morning (10-5).
The internet man came today. I was very happy to have my computer back up and running since this is my only form of entertainment, however my father is going to be paying for my cable for the summer so that's nice. I get cable on Friday morning. I can't wait. I get discovery channel and the national geographic channel and the channel that has MASH on it. Yeppers, I'm quite content really with that.
But right now I must go get some more unpacking done. I want to get this place shipshape now. Its bugging me...
Hope everyone is having a good week! I"ll check in later!

If my toes were made of brocolli, I would rule the world.

The end of another weekend. I'm sad about that, cause I had to leave Fredericton. The fact that tomorrow is Monday doesn't really make me sad... mostly cause I don't have much to do.. okay. That's a lie. I have alot to do, but nothing too taxing like work or school.
So yes, I went to Fredericton for the weekend, left Friday morning, came home this evening. I had a good time. Miss Dave already. I like Dave. He makes the world a better place. I look forward to being in the same city with him next year.
We didn't do too much over the weekend. Which is fine with me. I like doing nothing. Nothing is the definition of relaxation. We did however, as per our usual, watch lots of movies. Now follows my thoughts on each one.
Snatch. - Umm... well it was okay. I didn't like it. No.. didn't like it much. I had to watch with the subtitles to understand what they were saying, so either they do horrible British accents or they are really good. I guess that's up for disgreement or whatever. The dog who swallowed a squeaky toy and squeaked every time he laughed redeemed the movie for me.
Vampires - umm... yeah. Kinda silly actually. Way too much attempt to make it dramatic. Ick.
House on a Haunted Hill - umm.. Just dumb. I suppose it could have been "scarey" but umm... no.. no it wasn't... it had its funny moments though.
They - Dave said he and his sister couldn't walk by a closet for weeks after seeing this one... I had to keep from laughing through most of it. It was good. Just not scary. But good try Dave.
Shaun of the Dead - Funny. Okay... mostly just funny, definetly not scary.
Dawn of the Dead - Okay enough. Dumb mostly.
We were Soldiers - This one gets my vote. It was great. Loved it. Definetly the best movie I"ve seen in awhile. Great storyline, Mel Gibson, so great acting. Amazing battle scenes. Like, normally I get lost in war scenes but I knew where everyone was and what was going on in this one the whole time. It was great. So this one is my recommended movie of the weekend.
I think that's what we watched. Add in some cool documentaries and some Simpson's and Fairly oddparents (which I also really like).
So the plan for the next few days is to get all this moving done. Tomorrow Mom and I are picking up my computer desk (my birthday gift) then moving over the computer and a few more boxes, I'll be spending the rest of the afternoon over there cause the internet and phone people are coming to hook things up so I need to be there. So I guess I'll read and unpack what I can. Which isn't much cause I need to get bookshelves and such in there but whatever. Then Dad is helping me move stuff over tomorrow night (all except for beds and such), then I'll get to dance ( I hope) and then go back and finish unpacking. Tuesday morning will include getting the place here cleaned and such and then I have my first shift of work from 12 to 7, after that the moving will be finished and Marie will spend the first night with me at the new place. We leave for the aiport around 4 on Wednesday morning for her flight that leaves at 6am. Then I hopefully won't have to go to work... cause it'll be a long day if so... but yes. That is the beginning of my week. Now I'm off to do some stuff, I shall check in after I get all moved in and have time.
Later Gators.

My cats like boxes.

Money is a really rotten thing you know... I mean.. sure it buys us food and pays for a roof over our heads but its still a really rotten thing...
Okay.. Maybe I"m biased. Maybe I don't like it cause I don't budget it well or cause I never have enough but I still think its a rotten thing. Living shouldn't cost money. Especially money one doesn't have.
Just think about how much trouble is caused because of money... if we didn't have money, there would be no bank robberies, no cashier would ever have to worry bout someone holding her at gunpoint to take the money from her till. I think we should go back to times when they had vouchers for food and lodging and such. Would make life so much easier. Time for me to start my own little social policy or government or whatever.
Anyways, my random thought of the day. Must get back to packing.
Tootles.

BLEH

I'm very tired. Not sleepy. Just tired. I slept all afternoon... I decided I needed to when I stood there and watched the bus come, pick up the people and drive away and not get on it... it wasn't until it was driving around the corner that I realized I'd just ... well not missed it but not gotten on. So I studied Logic for about an hour, and then came home and slept.
After my not so restful nap I got some stuff together and headed over to the apartment. I just got back from cleaning for 3 hours... I wish I wasn't such a clean freak sometimes, it sure would make life easier. The worst thing is, I'll clean it all again in a couple days... meh. Its pretty clean. Learnt a few things though...
1. Old-style windows don't stay up by themselves. Therefore one should not push it up then put their head in the window.
2. Unless you want to wash the floor in the process, showers should not be turned on unless the shower curtain is across.
3. Not all people are like me. Some people don't clean their windows.
4. There is no point in cleaning the blinds when the more you clean, the dirtier they seem to get. By the way, the Bargain Shop closes at 6. Which means a quick trip at 7 will only leave you out of breath, wet and cold and back home with no clean white blinds.
5. I don't know how to work kitchen sink plugs and unless you know how, the water doesn't stay in and you just end up refilling it everytime you need to rinse out your rag.
6. I'm too short. Making it very difficult to clean the top shelves of a cupboard or change a lightbulb in a room with a 10-foot ceiling.
7. In the 80s there were no cosmetic products in bottles taller than 3 inches. And bathroom vanities were made to reflect this ridiculous phenomenon.
8. When a nail won't go in the wall because it is hitting something rubbery (you know its rubbery because the nail bounces) you should stop hammering, rubber things usually mean stop.

Now, if only today's lessons would help me on tomorrow's exam...

exploding eggs, bloody knees ahh yes.. the life of ME!

So today started out quite miserably... as you saw by my earlier post and my frustration with the printing system of my lovely university. And to add to that I have two exams on Tuesday and Wednesday that I have yet to begin studying for. And then... then I"m just feeling miserable, so much for the depression getting better once spring came... meh...
It got only more interesting. It had its good points though. I realized my stupidity in a few things, its amazing how enlightening that can be. And its amazing how stupid we humans can be in our humaness... just last night I was willing to give up the most precious thing in my life because of how it might not make my life exactly the way I wanted it to be. That's a really stupid reason. I spent a good deal of the last few days freaking out about something that I say I"ve never had but then realized its right there in front of my face and I was just about ready to let it go. Ah yes.. the human stupidity. Luckily I caught myself and saw this horribleness before I let it happen. More on that later on.
So to add a bit of comedy to my day of mean printers, high levels of stress and depression and englightenment... I was wearing a new skirt today. Marie gave me this really nice, long, tan skirt and I thought I should wear it today with my pretty orangey blouse. So I wore it... well it turns out its really difficult to walk up stairs in... yes.. I fell. Now the outside of the skirt is covered in mud and the inside in blood. I scraped one knee, and tore the skin of my shin on my other leg all to pieces and took a large chunk of skin off the bottom of my big toe. There was lots of blood. Much blood and much pain... okay.. still alot of both actually. Yeah... I needed to give all the grueling details. The chunk of skin off my toe is gonna make dance a little difficult...
Next... apparently eggs explode. Yes... Marie and I decorated eggs yesterday and I was gonna eat one today (they'd been hard boiled a couple days ago and kept in the fridge). So I took the shell off and put it in the microwave for a few seconds... well a few too many apparently. Yeah... so that was a nice bang and then a huge mess... and Marie tells me most people know that eggs can have amazing capability.
And next - Marie felt the urge to play Easter bunny to our neighbors however she sorta got caught in the act. She went out the door with her little bag of chocolate eggs and there was our neighbor: Adam, standing with a delivery guy at his door. She stood there for a few minutes trying to figure out how to explain her coming out of the apartment at random, Adam, the considerate guy that he is asked if they were making too much noise, she said no and then quickly reached for the keys to check the mail. So yes... our neighbor now thinks we are so desperate for mail that we check it at midnight in the hopes that we might just have gotten mail!
But now she's preparing to go out again... she checked the peekhole thingy first this time.
Well anyways, I need to go take some advil and take a hot bath so I can move in the morning cause the stiffness is starting to set in from my little fall. Happy Easter everyone!

gahhhh

gahhh...
I came into the university so I could print off notes for my exams on Tuesday and Wednesday. However, no printer wants to work today. They are all offline or something or other... I"m really not impressed. I don't want to deal with this today. I'm really not in the mood. But it looks like I have no choice... So I"ve gotten no work done and now I have to leave.
ehhhh.. anyways. That's all I have to say. Later All.

Birthday Meme!

It's the Birthday Meme! You go to Wikipedia and pull up the article on your birthday. Give three neat facts, two shared birthdays, and one death. So, for me (May 11) we have:

3 neat facts:
1818 - Charles XIV of Sweden-Norway is crowned king of Sweden.
1867 - Luxembourg gains its independence.
1949 - Israel joins the United Nations.

2 shared birthdays
1904 - Salvador Dali, Catalan painter
1907 - Rose Ausänder, German poet

1 death
2001 - Douglas Adams, English author

book, book, book...

So I finally got the chance to look at my books and write down which ones I need to read this summer. And so goes the long list:

The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold
The Pelican Brief, King of Torts, The Testament and Runaway Jury by John Grisham
Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Caroll
Hind Feet in High Places by Hannah Hurnard
Surfacing by Margaret Atwood
The Celebrity by Winston Churchill
Trial of St.Thomas Moore
The Fiery Cross by Diana Gebaldon
Pretend you Don't see her by Mary Higgins Clark
City of Bones by Micheal Connolly
Shadows by John Saul
Who has seen the wind by W.O. Mitchell
Duddy Kravitz by Mordecai Richler
The Negotiator by Dee Henderson
Miracle on 34th Street by Valentine Davies
Orlando by Virgina Woolf
Brightly Burning, Exile's Valour, and Gates of Sleep by Mercedes Lackey
Famous Trials in History
Le Morte D'Arthur by Sir Thomas Malory
War and Peace, and Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes
Canterbury Tales by Chaucer
Ulysses by James Joyce
The Children of Men by P.D. James
Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift
The Grapes of Wrath and the Pearl by John Steinbeck
Ann Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl
The Story of my Life: Helen Keller
All the King's Men by Robert Penn Warren

So that's it... my booklist... seeing it all down it looks like a lot... so maybe this will spill over into my school year reading... no...next summer...
Anyways, must get back to my packing. Laters.

yay for apartments and boo bills

So its Sunday night. Again. Sunday nights always come so fast.
This weekend and the end of the week were... err.. interesting to say the least.
But I got some apartment shopping done with Joanna on Saturday. I bought towels (I decided it was time for new ones when I fell the other day cause I got my foot caught in the strings of a towel...) and pretty candle holders for my wall. Then I showed Jo the apartment. She discovered that I have a bit of a valley in my living room. It goes up up up.. and then down in the middle and then back up again!
And I have a cool hose in my kitchen sink. Don't tick me off or you'll get sprayed. :)
And I bought Firefly. I am soo excited about that. Marie and I are about to go watch an episode.
Anyways, yeah. I moved all my books over to the apartment today. Figured out the doorlock and I thinkI know where I"m going to put my stuff.
Marie has informed me that we need groceries. I agree. Our cupboards are very empty. Unfortunately groceries cost money... I hate that... Bills came out of my account on Friday... I was a few behind so it quickly lowers the balance it seems.
Anyways... off I go to watch Firefly. Later Gators.

Classes are over!! wOOt!

So the trip to Fredericton. Was err... fun. Yes. It was fun. No one told me that I was the only one who knew how to get there however. So yeah... and the map we had was of all of NB so it wasn't exactly the easiest thing to open up in the passenger seat and read. And yes you'd think that getting from Saint John to Fredericton would be pretty straight forward... you are quite wrong. First we started out going South instead of North.. which makes a big difference.... you wouldn't think so but it doe.s :) And then we missed an exit and had to make a u-turn in the emergency vehicle area (that reminded me of the many u-turns in the Habitat trip). But we got there eventually. I met with a few professors. I'm doing just fine. I don't even need their help. Which is quite comforting. We saw an apartment that we really like and we really hope we can get one like it. Not sure if Dave wants me living that close to him... could get a bit annoying... I get annoying when lonely. I'm already getting lonely about the summer... and Marie leaves in 20 days... and if I discuss it any further I will cry and I've done enough of that lately so I'll just stop here.
I got some books today. I won't tell you what they are yet. Cause I"m gonna put up my "to read" list next week sometime. And I think I'll put together a "to watch" one as well. I'm gonna do my best to enjoy the summer. Get some things I've wanted to do done and such. Yeah. I am.
Anyways, I'm gonna go do some packing. Later all.

Eeee!

Ah yes. The sweet taste of success. Yes. I got a job. And yes I am very very happy. I'll be working for about 3 or 4 different stores all owned by the same company. And all really close to the new apartment. So yeah, that's all the good news I have. Tomorrow is the Fredericton trip and I'm looking forward to that but I'll fill y'all in on that later. Tootles.

Monday, April 03, 2006

Gahhhhh!!!

Its Monday. The first day of the last week of classes. I couldn't be happy. Okay.. that's a lie. I could be alot happier, but I"m not gonna complain. I couldn't be happier with regards to school being over. I would really like a job though... I dropped off some resumes today. I got a call before I even got home. But I think they're looking for part-time. I suppose I could work two part-time jobs instead of a full time one. Though that could be a bit chaotic when it comes to scheduling. But whatever, as long as I have something by mid-May I'll be fine.
I picked up the keys to the new apartment today. I don't think there is gonna be room for my kitchen table, but that's okay. I never have company so meh. So anyone who wants to see my empty apartment - I'm taking offers to show it off!
And apparently apartments are a scarce commodity in Fredericton. I must have called 30 apartments today. Though I guess most that are available right now are for April and May. So I guess we wait and start looking mid July. Which is fine. As long as Pauline doesn't mind a few more daytrips. But it means I get to see Dave a few times, so that's good.
Ooohh. I thought I"d found one. Its available for September. Its got all hardwood floors. Its downtown, so perfect area but the price is ridiculous. so that one's out of the question. I"m actually starting to think that maybe finding another roomate and getting a 3 bedroom would be a good idea. I'm gonna mention it to Pauline and see what she thinks. Cause there are quite a few houses for rent and it would only be about 400 each if we could find someone else. But anyways... must go look like I"m doing something productive. Later.
